Building The Ship

Voyage 5
Tom, Roseanne, Dan & Kathy returned from the Caribbean in 1976.

Voyage 8
One of Tom’s many drawings of possible boat designs.
This was not the design he finally settled on in the end, but its very close.
The Galley is in the correct location, the chart table was smaller than this drawing
shows, which freed up more room for the head on the port side of the boat.

Voyage 4
The new hull as delivered before the port holes, rigging or bow sprit were installed.
The boat was finished at Charlie’s Marina in Fairport.

Voyage 6
The half-finished galley before the stove was installed.

Voyage 7
The half-finished cabin before the dining table was installed.
The lee-boards were made of cloth, so they folded away under the cushions
during the day. Since we were always sailing East, and the wind was mostly out of the
South / SouthWest, the Starboard birth was the only one
that was used during the voyage.

Voyage 9
A better look at the galley.
Ice Chest on the left, Kerosene Stove in the middle, and the sink on right.
Sink has two spigots, one for fresh water the other for salt water.

Voyage 10
View from companion-way opening towards the bow of the boat. Head on
the right (port) side. Spice rack installed behind stove. Port holes all installed.

Voyage 13
Fo’c’sle before cushions were added and cubbies where painted.
No lee-boards up here, so only one person could sleep here at a time during voyage.
